The corporate photo shoot!

Visuals are important. They enliven your content, put a face to a name and can help you sell your company and products. They can help you explain your brand, make it come alive. And even more so on the impersonal web.

But you have to get them right. There’s nothing worse than the standard photo of the corporate executive smiling awkwardly against a blue or grey background.

Here are our top five tips to make sure your next corporate photo shoot goes swimmingly well:

  1. Convey the personality of the executive. Some are more smiley, others less so, some more animated, others less so. A sensitive photographer will bring out the best in all your executives.
  2. Capture the moment. No one likes to see stifled smiles and backs straightened with clothes hangers, have your photographer work during a meeting, a conference, an interview, a telephone call, or some other situation where you know there will be interaction between people that can be captured on camera.
  3. Use different settings. Corporate photos don’t have to be taken indoors up against a plain background. Explore the outdoors, or use various indoors settings with unusual architectural features.
  4. Make sure your shoot is on brand. Consider who you sell to, how they are dressed and what your product branding look like. No point being all dressed down in jeans and t-shirt if you only sell to corporates who you regularly meet in suit and tie.
  5. Choose a good photographer. A photographer who can work with your executives and achieve all of the above, plus add their own ideas and brand interpretations to the shoot is very valuable. Someone who is nervous will only project nerves onto the people who are going to be photographed, and someone laid back might not get the executive’s attention enough to produce good results.

To help us with our launch of the Conjungo website and services we decided to create some images and visuals that explain who we are and what Conjungo do. We used an excellent photographer, Liz Carrington, who we can warmly recommend, for the photo shoot.

We mainly meet with executives from technology vendors and suppliers, but our services are slightly ‘internet-hip’ so we wanted to convey a quirky angle on ‘being corporate’. Here are some of our pictures from the shoot last week – what do you think?
